MenuLens

Read the menu. Order what you meant to.

Photograph a menu in a language you do not read, or pick one from your photo library. MenuLens finds each dish and gives you its name in your language, a plain description of what it is, the printed price, and a photo of what it tends to look like. The reading and translating happen on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence, so the menu photo never leaves the phone. Requires an iPhone with Apple Intelligence.

What's inside

03 / Detail
01

Each dish, explained

The translated name, a short description of what the dish is, and the price as printed. Tap a dish for a carousel of representative photos from the web, so you know what is coming to the table before you order it.

02

Translated on the phone

Apple's Vision framework reads the print and Foundation Models translate and structure it, all on the device. The translation never touches the network. Only the dish photos do, and the app sends a dish name, nothing more, to fetch them.

03

Built for the table

Search a long menu, hear the original dish name pronounced, and share a dish with the people you are eating with. Saved menus live on your phone; rename them by restaurant and come back next time.

What leaves the phone

04 / Privacy

Menu photos stay on your phone, and so does your scan history. The one thing MenuLens sends anywhere is a dish name, as text, so a server Lumaru runs can look up representative photos with the Brave Search API and hand back image links. That server keeps an anonymous identifier and a weekly count of your photo lookups, which is how we cap search costs. It holds no photo, no location, and no name, email, or account, because MenuLens has none of those. Subscriptions go through Apple, and Apple keeps your payment details to itself.

The full account is in the MenuLens section of our privacy policy.
